What does Genesis 23:5 mean?
The people of Heth (Hittites living near Hebron) are responding to Abraham's request to buy land for a burial place for his wife Sarah. This moment captures something universal: when someone approaches their community with a genuine need, there's often a willingness to listen and help. Abraham, though a foreigner living among them, had clearly earned enough respect that they were ready to hear him out and eventually offer him the best of what they had.
