“Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.”
What does Genesis 22:8 mean?
Abraham speaks these words as he and his son Isaac climb the mountain, carrying wood but no animal for sacrifice. He's answering Isaac's honest question about where the offering will come from, and his reply shows a deep trust that God will somehow make this work, even though Abraham has been asked to do something that seems impossible and heartbreaking.
