What does Genesis 22:6 mean?
Abraham and his young son walk together up the mountain, Isaac carrying the wood that will be used for the sacrifice while Abraham holds the fire and knife. The simplicity of this moment, with both of them moving forward in sync, makes what's about to unfold even more poignant. Isaac hasn't yet realized what's happening, but Abraham knows the impossible thing God has asked him to do, and he's moving forward anyway. This scene captures the weight of obedience when it costs everything, and the terrible loneliness of faith when you can't explain yourself to the person you love most.
