What does Genesis 20:18 mean?
When Abraham traveled to a foreign king's territory and pretended Sarah was his sister rather than his wife, Abimelech took her into his household, not realizing the deception. God intervened to protect Sarah by making it impossible for Abimelech or anyone in his house to have children, sending a clear signal that something was wrong. Once the truth came out and Abraham explained himself, God restored the king's family's ability to have children. This verse shows God's protective care over Sarah even when Abraham acted out of fear and dishonesty, and it demonstrates that God will work through circumstances, even difficult ones, to preserve what matters.
