Genesis 2:15
“Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.”
What does Genesis 2:15 mean?
The man is given work to do right from the beginning, not as punishment but as purpose. God places him in the garden with two responsibilities: to cultivate it (bringing things to life and growth) and to keep it (protecting and maintaining what matters). This tells us something beautiful about how we're made—we're designed to contribute, to tend to things we care about, and to find meaning in that work. Even in a perfect place, meaningful activity isn't a burden but part of what makes life full.
