What does Genesis 2:1 mean?

On the seventh day, God stops working and looks at everything that's been made, and it's complete. There's nothing left undone, nothing broken or incomplete. This moment captures the satisfaction of a job perfectly finished, which is why God rests afterward, not out of tiredness but out of the fullness of having accomplished exactly what was intended. It's a good reminder that our own work has an endpoint too, and that rest isn't laziness but the natural rhythm of creation itself.
