What does Genesis 14:10 mean?
The valley where these kings were fighting turned out to be their worst enemy. Instead of open ground for battle, they found themselves in a landscape dotted with tar pits, those dark pools of sticky, suffocating material that trapped and killed anyone who stumbled into them. When the battle went against them, their only choice was to run, and some couldn't escape the terrain fast enough. This moment reminds us that our circumstances often matter as much as our choices, and sometimes what we think is solid ground beneath us is actually danger waiting to happen.
