What does Genesis 13:11 mean?
When Lot and Abraham's flocks grew too large to share the same grazing land, they chose to part ways peacefully. Lot looked at the Jordan valley, which appeared rich and well-watered, and decided that's where he wanted to settle, moving eastward while Abraham stayed in the hill country. This moment marks the beginning of their different paths, both geographically and spiritually, setting up the consequences that would unfold in the chapters to follow. Sometimes making practical decisions about what seems best for ourselves in the moment can lead us away from the wisdom and protection we find in community with faithful people.
