What does Genesis 11:2 mean?

After the flood, humanity began to spread out again, and this verse captures a pivotal moment when people migrated westward and discovered a fertile plain in what we now call Mesopotamia (ancient Babylon). They decided to settle there, which set the stage for what comes next in the story, the building of the Tower of Babel. This simple act of finding a place and putting down roots shows how quickly human civilization was rebuilding, and how people were naturally drawn to good land where they could establish cities and communities. It's a reminder that sometimes where we end up shapes what we do and who we become.
