Galatians 5:21
“envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom.”
What does Galatians 5:21 mean?
Paul is wrapping up a list of behaviors that pull us away from God's Kingdom, and he's being direct because he cares about the people he's writing to. He's not listing these things to shame anyone, but to warn them that living in patterns of envy, violence, addiction, and excess creates a kind of spiritual separation from God, not because He's punishing from a distance, but because these things damage us from the inside out. The phrase "inherit God's Kingdom" doesn't necessarily mean eternal condemnation, but rather that when we're caught in these patterns, we're not truly experiencing the freedom, peace, and wholeness that God offers. Paul uses the language of warning here because he sees the real cost of these choices, and he's offering clarity before harm deepens.
