Galatians 4:30

What does Galatians 4:30 mean?
Paul is quoting the story of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar to make a spiritual point about freedom in Christ. In the original account, Sarah—the free wife—tells Abraham to send away Hagar the servant and her son Ishmael because Sarah's own son Isaac is the true heir. Paul uses this as a metaphor: those who try to earn God's favor through strict rule-keeping (represented by Hagar and the old system of the law) cannot share the same inheritance as those who trust God's promise of grace (represented by Isaac and freedom in Christ). He's not being cruel about actual people, but rather saying that two different ways of relating to God cannot both be the path forward. The point is liberating, not rejecting: you don't have to earn what's already promised to you through faith.
