Galatians 4:15
“What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.”
What does Galatians 4:15 mean?
Paul is reminding the Galatians of how much they once loved and supported him, using an extreme image to show the depth of their former affection. He's not literally saying they should have gouged out their eyes, but rather expressing how generous and devoted they were to him in his time of need (likely when he was suffering from an eye condition or illness). The heartbreak in these words becomes clear when you read them in context: Paul is writing because the Galatians have now turned away from his message and are following false teachers instead.
