Galatians 3:22

What does Galatians 3:22 mean?
Paul is describing a turning point in human history. The Old Testament law functioned like a prison guard, confining everyone under the reality of sin and showing how desperately we all fall short of God's standards. This wasn't meant to be permanent or punitive, but rather to drive people to recognize their need. That recognition creates space for faith. Once we understand that no amount of rule-following can save us, we become open to receiving something we could never earn: the promise of new life through Jesus. The good news isn't that we finally try hard enough or become good enough. It's that God offers us a completely different way forward, available to anyone who believes.
