Galatians 2:8
“(for he who worked through Peter in the apostleship with the circumcised also worked through me with the Gentiles);”
What does Galatians 2:8 mean?
Paul is reassuring the church that God's Spirit empowered both his ministry and Peter's, even though they served different groups. Peter focused on Jewish believers (those from the circumcised community), while Paul took the gospel to non-Jewish people. By saying the same God worked through both of them, Paul is defending the legitimacy of his calling and suggesting that their different missions were actually part of one divine plan, not a competition or contradiction. This matters because some in the early church were questioning whether Paul's authority really came from God or if he was doing something unauthorized.
