“Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Peter, and stayed with him fifteen days.”
What does Galatians 1:18 mean?
Paul is recounting the early days after his dramatic conversion, explaining to the Galatian churches that his understanding of Jesus came directly from God, not from other apostles' approval. Three years had passed since his encounter with the risen Christ, and this visit to Peter was his first real contact with the Jerusalem leadership. The fifteen days he spent with Peter were significant enough to mention, suggesting these were formative conversations between two men who had encountered Jesus in completely different ways, one as a disciple during Jesus' ministry and one as a persecutor turned believer.
