Galatians 1:13

What does Galatians 1:13 mean?
Paul is reminding the Galatians of his dramatic past, before he encountered Jesus on the Damascus Road. He had been a zealous enforcer of Jewish law, actively hunting down and harming early Christians because he saw their faith as a threat to the faith of his ancestors. By bringing this up, Paul isn't looking for sympathy; he's establishing his credibility with people who might doubt him. If anyone should understand how radically Jesus transforms a life, it's the man who once tried to destroy his followers. There's deep honesty here too. Paul doesn't minimize what he did or hide behind excuses.
