Ezra 8:28
“I said to them, “You are holy to Yahweh, and the vessels are holy. The silver and the gold are a freewill offering to Yahweh, the God of your fathers.”
What does Ezra 8:28 mean?
Ezra is speaking to the priests and Levites who will carry the temple treasures back to Jerusalem after their exile in Babylon. He's reminding them that they themselves are set apart for God's service, the sacred vessels they're transporting belong to him, and the precious metals they're bringing are gifts given willingly, not extracted by force.
