Ezra 7:6
“this Ezra went up from Babylon. He was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which Yahweh, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to Yahweh his God’s hand on him.”
What does Ezra 7:6 mean?
Ezra was a Jewish priest and scribe who had studied God's law so thoroughly that the Persian king recognized his wisdom and authority. The king essentially gave him a blank check to do what he needed to do, whether that meant gathering supplies or organizing people for the journey back to Jerusalem. What makes this beautiful is that the passage credits both sources of his success: his own disciplined study of Scripture and God's favor working through the political powers around him. It's a reminder that when we commit ourselves to understanding God's word, doors often open in ways we couldn't have orchestrated ourselves.
