Ezra 7:28
“and has extended loving kindness to me before the king and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. I was strengthened according to Yahweh my God’s hand on me, and I gathered together chief men out of Israel to go up with me.”
What does Ezra 7:28 mean?
Ezra is reflecting on how God opened doors for him that seemed impossible to open. The Persian king had given him permission and resources to lead a group back to Jerusalem to restore the temple and teach God's law, which was extraordinary favor for a Jewish exile. Ezra credits this not to his own cleverness or status, but to God's active kindness working on his behalf, even in the heart of a foreign ruler.
