Ezra 7:1
“Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,”
What does Ezra 7:1 mean?
This verse introduces Ezra himself, a priest and scribe who lived during the Persian Empire's rule over the Jewish people. He comes from a long line of priests, which gave him both spiritual authority and access to important knowledge. The "after these things" refers back to earlier events in the book, when other Jewish exiles had already returned to Jerusalem, so Ezra arrives in a later wave of restoration.
