What does Ezra 5:10 mean?
When the Persian officials inspected the Jewish temple reconstruction project in Jerusalem, they wanted to be thorough and accountable. They asked the Jewish leaders to identify themselves so they could report back to King Darius with accurate information about who was actually directing this work. It's a practical administrative detail, but it also shows how the Jews had to operate transparently under Persian rule, openly naming their leaders rather than hiding their identity or intentions.
