Ezra 3:6
“From the first day of the seventh month, they began to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh; but the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was not yet laid.”
What does Ezra 3:6 mean?
The returning exiles had just arrived back in Jerusalem after decades of captivity in Babylon, and they wasted no time establishing worship again, even though the temple building itself hadn't begun. They set up the altar and started the regular sacrifices and festivals right away, showing their eagerness to reconnect with God and resume their spiritual life. This reminds us that sometimes we can begin honoring God and drawing close to him even while we're still in the middle of rebuilding broken things in our lives. Full restoration takes time, but authentic worship doesn't have to wait for everything to be perfect first.
