What does Ezra 2:24 mean?

This is part of a census list showing who returned to Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile. Azmaveth was a small town near Jerusalem, and forty-two of its residents came back to rebuild their homeland and their faith community. These weren't famous people whose names we know individually, but they mattered enough that the record keepers counted them. Sometimes the deepest truth in Scripture isn't in dramatic moments but in these quiet acknowledgments that ordinary people, in humble numbers, showed up to do the hard work of restoration.
