Ezekiel 9:5
“To the others he said in my hearing, “Go through the city after him, and strike. Don’t let your eye spare, neither have pity.”
What does Ezekiel 9:5 mean?
This is one of the hardest passages in Scripture, part of Ezekiel's vision of God's judgment on Jerusalem. An angel marks those who grieve over the city's sins, and then others are sent to execute judgment without mercy. The command to show no pity sounds brutal, but Ezekiel is expressing something deep about divine justice: when people persistently turn from God and cause suffering to the vulnerable, accountability eventually comes, and it's final.
