Ezekiel 7:23

What does Ezekiel 7:23 mean?
God is describing a society so broken by injustice and brutality that it deserves to be bound up like a prisoner. The "chains" represent both the consequences that are coming and the spiritual captivity that sin creates, even before any external punishment arrives. When a culture becomes saturated with bloodshed and violence, it inevitably becomes trapped by the very evil it's committed, unable to escape the cycle of harm and retaliation. Ezekiel is warning that when people turn away from God's ways, they don't experience freedom; they forge their own chains through cruelty and corruption.
