What does Ezekiel 7:15 mean?
Ezekiel lived during Jerusalem's final crisis before exile, and he's describing the inescapable grip of judgment: no matter where people tried to flee, disaster would find them. Whether someone ran to the countryside to escape the city's siege, they'd face invading soldiers. If they stayed behind city walls seeking safety, starvation and disease would consume them. It's a picture of complete vulnerability, where human instinct to survive by choosing the "safer" option becomes impossible. For those of us reading this today, especially in difficult times, it speaks to a deeper truth: we can't save ourselves through strategy alone. Ezekiel's audience eventually learned that their only real hope lay in turning toward God, not in outsmarting their circumstances.
