Ezekiel 48:2

What does Ezekiel 48:2 mean?
This verse is part of Ezekiel's vision of how the promised land will be divided among the twelve tribes after their restoration. The prophet is describing the northern territories, working methodically from east to west, assigning each tribe a strip of land running horizontally across the region. The specificity here, while it might seem like dry geography to us now, would have been deeply meaningful to the exiled Israelites hearing it. They'd lost their homeland and were scattered, so Ezekiel's detailed vision of the land being restored and fairly distributed among all the tribes offered them concrete hope that God hadn't abandoned them permanently. Each tribe getting its own portion symbolized that God remembered everyone and had a place for them in the future he was promising.
