Ezekiel 47:22

It will happen, that you shall divide it by lot for an inheritance to you and to the aliens who live among you, who will father children among you. Then they shall be to you as the native-born among the children of Israel. They shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.

What does Ezekiel 47:22 mean?

This passage comes from Ezekiel's vision of a restored Israel, where he describes how the promised land should be divided among the people. God is instructing that resident foreigners, those who have settled among Israel and raised families there, deserve full inheritance rights just like native Israelites. There's something deeply radical here: boundaries of birth and ethnicity don't determine belonging or blessing in God's kingdom. Whether you were born into the community or arrived later, if you've built your life there and committed to it, you're fully part of the family. For many of us today, this speaks to how God sees inclusion and welcome, especially for those who sometimes feel like outsiders or like they don't quite belong in faith communities.
