What does Ezekiel 44:31 mean?
The priests in the temple had strict rules about what they could eat because their role was to be set apart for God's service. This rule meant they couldn't eat meat that had died naturally or been killed by predators, only properly slaughtered animals. It's similar to other purity laws in Leviticus, where avoiding these kinds of meat was a way of staying ceremonially clean and spiritually focused on their duties. For us, the deeper principle is about care and intentionality in what we do. The priests weren't just eating anything convenient, they were making deliberate choices that reflected their commitment. While these specific food laws don't apply to Christians today, the idea still speaks to us: when we dedicate ourselves to something meaningful, the small choices we make matter and shape who we become.
