What does Ezekiel 44:27 mean?
When a priest entered the inner sanctuary to perform his duties, he first had to make a sin offering, acknowledging his own need for cleansing before approaching God's holiest space. This wasn't because the priest had necessarily done something wrong that day, but rather a recognition that anyone coming into God's direct presence needed to be ritually prepared and reminded of human imperfection. For those of us who aren't ancient priests, the principle still resonates: approaching God honestly means recognizing we can't clean ourselves up entirely on our own, and we need his grace. It's less about punishment and more about humility and the understanding that drawing near to God requires both intention and awareness of our own limitations.
