What does Ezekiel 43:26 mean?
After the altar was rebuilt, the priests needed time to restore its sacred purpose through intentional, repeated acts of cleansing and dedication. The number seven in Scripture often signals completion and wholeness, suggesting that this wasn't a quick ritual but a full cycle of restoration. By spending these seven days making atonement and purifying the altar, the priests were essentially saying that something broken or neglected required patient, deliberate care before it could be used again for worship. There's something deeply human in this image: when we've neglected our relationship with God or when our own "altar" (our heart, our practice of faith) has grown cold, we can't rush back to wholeness, but we can commit to a season of intentional restoration.
