Ezekiel 42:14
“When the priests enter in, then they shall not go out of the holy place into the outer court, but they shall lay their garments in which they minister there; for they are holy. Then they shall put on other garments, and shall approach to that which is for the people.””
What does Ezekiel 42:14 mean?
When priests finished their sacred work in the innermost areas of the temple, they followed a careful ritual: they couldn't simply walk back into the everyday courtyard still wearing their holy garments. Instead, they'd change out of their ministry clothes, which were considered sacred and set apart, and put on regular clothing before moving among the people. This practice reinforced an important idea: holiness required respect and intentionality, not carelessness or mixing the sacred with the ordinary. For those of us today, it's a reminder that our faith isn't something we carry loosely or blend carelessly into our lives, but something that deserves our careful attention and reverence.
