Ezekiel 39:2
“I will turn you around, and will lead you on, and will cause you to come up from the uttermost parts of the north; and I will bring you onto the mountains of Israel.”
What does Ezekiel 39:2 mean?
God is speaking to Gog, an enemy power that has come against Israel from the distant north. This promise reverses the direction of the invasion, turning the attacker around so that instead of conquering, he is brought onto Israel's own terrain where God will confront him. The imagery of coming "up from the uttermost parts of the north" emphasizes how far away and powerful this threat seemed, yet God declares control over even this distant enemy's movements. What matters most here is the core message: God doesn't leave his people defenseless when facing overwhelming opposition, but actively orchestrates events to protect them and demonstrate his sovereignty.
