Ezekiel 37:11
“Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are completely cut off.’”
What does Ezekiel 37:11 mean?
Ezekiel is describing a vision where God shows him a valley filled with dry bones, and here God interprets what he's seeing: these bones represent the entire nation of Israel in exile. The people felt utterly hopeless, as if they were dead and forgotten, with no future and no way forward. This captures the despair that comes when everything familiar has been stripped away and you can't see how anything could ever be restored. Yet the passage continues beyond this point of deepest discouragement, because God is about to demonstrate that what seems completely dead can be brought back to life.
