Ezekiel 34:24
βI, Yahweh, will be their God, and my servant David prince among them. I, Yahweh, have spoken it.β
What does Ezekiel 34:24 mean?
God makes a deeply personal promise here: he will be present as their God, and a righteous leader (symbolized by David) will guide them faithfully. This comes after Ezekiel has denounced the corrupt shepherds (leaders) of Israel who neglected the people, so this is God's commitment to never abandon his people to bad leadership again. The repetition of "I, Yahweh, have spoken it" underscores that this isn't wishful thinking but a divine guarantee you can trust, especially important for people in exile who had every reason to feel abandoned.
