Ezekiel 34:20
““Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh to them: ‘Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.”
What does Ezekiel 34:20 mean?
God is speaking through the prophet Ezekiel to leaders who have been neglecting and exploiting the vulnerable people in their care, using the image of shepherds and sheep. The "fat sheep" represent those in power who have enriched themselves, while the "lean sheep" are the poor and marginalized who have suffered as a result. This verse promises that God himself will step in and hold the powerful accountable for how they've treated those weaker than themselves, setting things right when human leaders have failed to do so.
