What does Ezekiel 29:9 mean?
Egypt's pride in its own power, especially its control of the Nile River (which was the lifeblood of their civilization), had become a form of idolatry. Through Ezekiel, God is saying that this self-sufficiency will crumble, and in that breaking, people will finally recognize who actually holds all things. The desolation isn't punishment for its own sake, but a wake-up call that everything we build our confidence on—wealth, resources, human achievement—is temporary and ultimately belongs to God alone.
