Ezekiel 26:5
“She will be a place for the spreading of nets in the middle of the sea; for I have spoken it,’ says the Lord Yahweh. ‘She will become plunder for the nations.”
What does Ezekiel 26:5 mean?
Ezekiel is describing what will happen to Tyre, a wealthy coastal city that had grown proud and oppressive. God is saying that this grand port city, which once bustled with merchant ships and international trade, will be reduced to nothing more than a fishing ground. The nets spreading across the water suggest total desolation, a place so destroyed that only fishermen will find any use for it. This prophecy comes with divine authority ("I have spoken it"). God isn't describing a possibility but announcing a certainty. The message to Tyre's people, and to anyone reading this, is that worldly power and wealth don't protect you from God's judgment when injustice and pride take root.
