Ezekiel 26:19
““For thus says the Lord Yahweh: ‘When I make you a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I bring up the deep on you, and the great waters cover you;”
What does Ezekiel 26:19 mean?
God is speaking to Tyre, a wealthy coastal city that had grown proud and relied on its own strength rather than on him. The image of waters covering the city is both literal (describing how the city will be destroyed and abandoned) and symbolic of how completely God can humble even the most powerful earthly kingdoms. The point isn't to rejoice in destruction, but to show that no amount of human achievement or fortified walls can stand against God's judgment when a people turn away from him.
