Ezekiel 25:5

What does Ezekiel 25:5 mean?
God speaks here through the prophet Ezekiel to the Ammonites, a neighboring people who had mocked Israel during its suffering. By turning their capital city Rabbah into grazing land for animals, God is describing complete humiliation and loss of power, reversing the pride they felt in their strength and importance. The final phrase, "then you will know that I am Yahweh," reveals God's deeper purpose: not cruelty for its own sake, but a correction meant to bring people to recognize His authority and justice. When consequences come to those who mistreat others, there's an opportunity to stop and see that God takes seriously how we treat His people.
