What does Ezekiel 25:3 mean?
God is calling out the Ammonites for their mockery and cruelty toward Judah during one of its darkest moments. When Jerusalem fell and the people were taken into exile, the neighboring Ammonites didn't offer help or comfort, instead they jeered at the destruction with "Aha!" expressions of schadenfreude. Their sneering revealed a hardened heart that found satisfaction in others' suffering and loss of faith. This message reminds us that God notices not only our actions but our attitudes toward those in pain. Mocking someone in their weakness or loss, or secretly enjoying another's downfall, grieves the heart of God. If you're walking through hardship right now, take comfort knowing that your suffering doesn't go unnoticed by him, and those who delight in your pain will ultimately answer to him.
