Ezekiel 24:13
““‘“In your filthiness is lewdness. Because I have cleansed you and you weren’t cleansed, you won’t be cleansed from your filthiness any more, until I have caused my wrath toward you to rest.”
What does Ezekiel 24:13 mean?
God is describing Jerusalem's refusal to change after being given chances to turn around. The "filthiness" and "lewdness" represent the people's persistent injustice and idolatry, even after God sent prophets and brought consequences meant to wake them up. When someone keeps rejecting help and correction, there comes a point where the opportunity to avoid further pain closes off, and they simply have to walk through the full weight of what they've chosen. The hopeful note here, though, is that God's wrath isn't eternal or pointless, it will eventually "rest," meaning there is an end to judgment and a possibility of restoration beyond it. This is hard truth wrapped in a promise that God's discipline, while real, isn't abandonment.
