Ezekiel 21:2
““Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and preach toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel.”
What does Ezekiel 21:2 mean?
God is calling Ezekiel to turn his attention—his whole self—toward Jerusalem and deliver a difficult message. The instruction to "set your face" means to focus intently, with determination, on speaking what God has given him to say. This wasn't a comfortable task. Ezekiel was telling his own people that judgment was coming, which required courage and faithfulness rather than popularity. The image of preaching toward the sanctuaries (the holy places) makes it clear that even the religious center of Israel's life was not exempt from God's word of accountability. For us, this can mean that sometimes the hardest words we need to hear come from those who love us enough to speak truth, even when it's unwelcome.
