Ezekiel 20:42
“You will know that I am Yahweh when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I swore to give to your fathers.”
What does Ezekiel 20:42 mean?
God is making a promise here to people who have lost nearly everything. Ezekiel was speaking to Israelites in exile in Babylon, far from home and wondering if God had abandoned them. He's telling them that restoration itself will be the proof of God's faithfulness, that when they finally return to the land their ancestors were promised, they'll understand that God was with them all along, even in the darkness. It's a tender reminder that sometimes we recognize God's presence most clearly not in the moment of struggle, but when we look back and see how we've been brought through to safety. The fulfillment of what God said would happen becomes the evidence that God is real and keeps His word.
