Ezekiel 20:30
““Therefore tell the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Do you pollute yourselves in the way of your fathers? Do you play the prostitute after their abominations?”
What does Ezekiel 20:30 mean?
God is asking Israel a hard question through the prophet Ezekiel: Are you really going to keep repeating the same spiritual mistakes your ancestors made? The language of "pollution" and "prostitution" describes how turning away from God corrupts everything it touches, and how chasing other gods feels like abandoning a faithful relationship for something empty. This comes after Ezekiel has been describing Israel's long history of unfaithfulness, so God isn't asking because He doesn't know the answer. He's confronting them directly, inviting them to stop and see the pattern they're stuck in. It's a wake-up call wrapped in a question, because sometimes we need to face what we're actually choosing before we can choose differently.
