What does Ezekiel 20:18 mean?
God is speaking through the prophet Ezekiel about a hard truth: sometimes the patterns our parents passed down to us lead away from what's good. In this case, the Israelites had inherited a legacy of turning away from God and chasing false gods, and God wanted their children to break that cycle. Rather than simply repeating what the previous generation did, the younger people were being called to choose a different path, one that honored God instead.
