What does Ezekiel 18:10 mean?
This verse introduces a difficult example in Ezekiel's teaching about personal responsibility before God. The prophet is showing that even if a person's parent lived faithfully, their child cannot simply inherit that righteousness, just as they cannot inherit their parent's wrongdoing. Instead, each person stands accountable for their own choices, and here Ezekiel begins describing a son who chooses a path of violence and theft, marking him as someone who will answer to God for those specific actions.
