Ezekiel 16:53

What does Ezekiel 16:53 mean?
God is speaking to Jerusalem through the prophet Ezekiel, and this promise arrives in the middle of heavy judgment. Jerusalem has been compared to Sodom and Samaria, cities known for their wickedness, yet God is saying he will restore not just Jerusalem but even those infamous cities from their captivity. It's a stunning reversal: the nations held up as examples of God's judgment will themselves be restored. The comfort here is that God's restoration isn't limited by how far someone has fallen or how shameful their history is. If God promises to reverse the captivity of Sodom itself, the message to Jerusalem (and to us) is that no situation is beyond God's reach or compassion. Even in exile, even after failure, restoration is possible when God chooses to act.
