What does Ezekiel 13:17 mean?

God tells Ezekiel to confront women in Jerusalem who are claiming to speak for God while actually speaking from their own desires and imagination. These false prophetesses were giving people false hope and misleading them during a time of crisis, which made them dangerous spiritual guides. Ezekiel's job wasn't to attack these women personally, but to clearly expose the difference between authentic words from God and comforting lies that came from human hearts. In a community where people were desperate for reassurance, distinguishing truth from wishful thinking was a matter of spiritual survival.
