Ezekiel 12:27
““Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, ‘The vision that he sees is for many day to come, and he prophesies of times that are far off.’”
What does Ezekiel 12:27 mean?
The people of Israel were dismissing Ezekiel's warnings by assuming his prophecies were about some distant future, not anything they needed to take seriously right now. They were essentially saying, "Yes, yes, maybe someday what you're saying will matter, but not in our lifetime, so we can ignore it." It's a very human response to hard truths: we postpone them, minimize them, or tell ourselves they don't apply to us today. God calling out this excuse through Ezekiel suggests that avoiding difficult messages won't protect us, and that delaying our response to what we know is true can itself be a kind of disobedience.
